Scott H. Richardson
Principal |
|
Scott
Richardson, a co-founding principal of Richardson Barr & Co., has
more than 19 years of investment banking experience devoted exclusively
to upstream clients. Mr. Richardson’s transaction experience includes the
sale of both public and private E&P companies, private and public debt
transactions, fairness opinions, general advisory, and asset
divestitures.
From 2000 – 2002, Mr. Richardson was a Managing Director and Co-head of
the Houston office of Waterous & Co., where he was responsible for
business development for the U.S. practice. From 1997 – 2000, Mr.
Richardson headed Chase Manhattan’s oil and gas practice in Canada (a J.P.
Morgan predecessor). From 1987 – 2000, he held various commercial and
investment banking positions with J.P. Morgan Chase-related entities in
the U.S. Ultimately, while at J.P. Morgan Chase-related entities, Mr.
Richardson originated transactions in excess of $10 billion.
Mr. Richardson’s professional speaking engagements include many to the
SPE, Herold’s, and the IPAA. He earned his BBA in Finance from Southern
Methodist University in 1985. |

Stephen L. Barr Principal |
|
Steve Barr is a co-founding
principal of Richardson Barr &
Co. Mr. Barr has been an oil and gas investment banker for 17 years,
completing
in
excess of 100 transactions valued at over $10 billion. Mr. Barr's transaction
experience includes asset divestitures, the sale of both public and private
companies, asset swaps, general advisories, valuations, fairness opinions and
restructure/reorganizations.
From 1987-2000, Mr. Barr was founding Managing Director of JP Morgan Chase's Oil
and Gas Acquisition and Divestiture Group. He held various positions with JP
Morgan Chase prior to this. In addition, Mr. Barr was the Managing Director and
Co-head of the Houston office of Waterous & Co. from 2000-2003, where he
supervised a 20-member team along with Mr. Richardson.
Prior to his investment banking career, Mr. Barr established himself as a
petroleum engineer in the oil and gas industry for Exxon and Forest Oil,
further testament to his particularly keen insight into the E&P upstream
market.
In addition to memberships in various industry organizations, Mr. Barr
served for ten years on the board of Alamco, Inc., a public oil and gas
company in Appalachia. He is a Registered Professional Petroleum Engineer,
member of Society of Petroleum Engineers and Society of Petroleum
Evaluation Engineers.
Mr. Barr holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of

Donald L. Cordier,
Managing Director |
|
Don Cordier joined Richardson Barr & Co. in June, 2004. Mr. Cordier has over 25 years experience in the energy industry, with the last 7 years focused in M&A activity. Prior to Richardson Barr & Co., he was a Director in the Houston office of Waterous & Co., primarily responsible for the Business Development and deal execution of Waterous’ assignments in the US. A few notable assignments during Mr. Cordier’s tenure at Waterous include the $400MM Williams asset divestiture in 2003, the corporate sale of Tri-Union Development Corporation, and the recent $473MM corporate sale of Prima Energy Corporation.
From 1988-2001, Mr. Cordier worked at Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. in various engineering and financial positions. Most recently, he was responsible for all engineering and business development within Cabot. Prior to that, he worked at Equitable Resources, Inc. and Quaker State Corporation in several engineering roles.
Mr. Cordier holds a B.S. in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He is a Registered Engineer in Pennsylvania and is member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Houston Producers Forum, Houston Energy Finance Group and the IPAA. Mr. Cordier is also a member of the Board of Directors of the World Oilman’s Tennis Tournament. | |

Geoffrey T. Davis,
Director |
|
Geoff Davis joined Richardson Barr & Co. in June 2006. Mr. Davis has over 25 years experience in the energy industry, with the last 4 years focused in M&A activity. Prior to Richardson Barr & Co., he was a Vice President in the Houston office for Tristone Capital where he was primarily responsible for the Business Development and deal execution of Tristone’s U.S. assignments. Prior to Tristone, Mr. Davis was with Dominion Exploration & Production, Inc. where he was Manager, U.S. Onshore Acquisitions & Divestitures. During his tenure with Dominion and the predecessor, CNG Producing Company, Mr. Davis directed over $300 million in onshore property transactions and generated competitive bids of over $2 billion for asset packages and company sales. Prior to Dominion, Mr. Davis was a geologist with Ryder Scott Company and an independent geological consultant to several independent E&P companies. He began his oil and gas career in 1981 with Exxon Production Company and later Amerada Hess Corporation.
Mr. Davis earned an M.S. in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Hawaii in 1981 and a B.S. in Geology from the University of Rhode Island in 1977. Geoff is a Certified Petroleum Geologist with the AAPG, a Certified Professional Geoscientist with the State of Texas, and is a member of the Houston Geological Society, the Program Committee of SPE's Business Development Study Group, the Houston Producers' Forum, and the IPAA. | |

Craig R. Lande,
Vice President |
|
Craig Lande joined Richardson Barr & Co. in June 2005. Mr. Lande has over 13 years of broad experience in the U.S. acquisition and divestiture market involving company research, corporate and asset valuation, and business development. Over the years, he has developed an extensive database that includes the acquisition and divestiture priorities of the majority of E&P companies in the U.S. Prior to Richardson Barr & Co., Mr. Lande worked in the Houston office of Waterous & Co. from 2001-2005 and most recently served as a Vice President. Mr. Lande was actively involved in business development for the U.S. practice. A few recent assignments during Mr. Lande’s tenure at Waterous include Pecos Production, J-W Operating, Everlast Energy and CrownQuest Operating. He was also the creator and editor of the Quarterly Market Review, a newsletter focusing on upstream acquisition and divestiture valuations and trends.
From 1996 – 2001, Mr. Lande was a Senior Analyst with the energy investment banking firm Cornerstone Ventures, L.P. where he concentrated on corporate research and company and asset valuations.
Mr. Lande holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Marketing from Tulane University.

Paul Grant,
Vice President |
|
Paul Grant joined Richardson Barr & Co. in September 2005. Mr. Grant has over 25 years experience in the E&P industry, including both engineering and operational experience in all major U.S. basins. Most recently, he served as President of Resurgent Resources, LLC, a consulting firm focused on generating and marketing field redevelopment prospects in the Gulf of Mexico. Prior to his consulting firm, Mr. Grant was Vice President of Orca Management, LLC. where he oversaw budgeting, reservoir engineering and geology, and assisted in the divestiture of $113.5 million of assets. Prior to that, he was Senior Petroleum Engineer for Aquila Energy Capital where he was responsible for the engineering, geo-technical and operational review of project financing opportunities.
From 1997-1999, Mr. Grant was Senior Reservoir Engineer with Seagull Energy where he was responsible for economic evaluation and reserve reporting primarily in the Arkoma Basin, Northern Louisiana and East Texas.
Mr. Grant earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with honors from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Benjamin H. Bates,
Vice President |
|
Ben Bates joined Richardson Barr & Co. in March, 2008. Mr. Bates has over 30 years experience in the energy industry. Prior to Richardson Barr & Co., he was VP Strategic Development and CFO for Santos USA Corp. He was actively involved in the 2007 corporate sale and became CFO of Santos’ successor in interest. Over the 1993-2003 period as VP Projects at Randall & Dewey, he directed integrated M&A project teams and successfully completed approximately $2.5 billion of transaction volume in the U.S., Latin America and West Africa, including the firm's then largest divestment project (CMS’ strategic exit from Equatorial Guinea). From 1975-2003, Mr. Bates worked at Amoco Corp. in various commercial and financial positions in Chicago, London, Denver and Houston.
Mr. Bates holds a B.A. in Economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Harvard University. He is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators. |

Randol Rodgers,
Vice President |
|
Randol Rodgers joined Richardson Barr & Co. in August 2008. Mr. Rodgers has over 25 years technical and financial experience in the E&P industry, including engineering and operational roles in most major U.S. basins. Most recently, he served as Principal of Otero Resources, LLC, an energy investment firm. Prior to Otero, Mr. Rodgers was a founding partner of a private-equity backed E&P company, Sawtooth Energy Partners, LLC. At Sawtooth he oversaw the acquisition, management and exploitation of more that 5 MMCFED, and participated in the successful monetization of the partnership. Prior to that, he was Vice President – Business Development for USA Compression Corp, and Area Manager – Business Development for Union Pacific Resources.
From 1979 to 1996, Mr. Rodgers served in a variety of technical and financial positions for Lehndorff/LGB Minerals, Cenergy Exploration Company and TXO Production Company. During his career he has been directly involved in more than $500 million of M&A transactions.
Mr. Rodgers earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University, and also holds a MBA from SMU. He is a registered Professional Engineer and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Dallas Society of Investment Analysts.
